Psychotherapy

Ken Evans, Founding Director of Euroips is an experienced psychotherapist, supervisor and  trainer  whose initial training was in the early 1970’s in the United Kingdom. He is registered in the UK as a Gestalt psychotherapist and as an Integrative psychotherapist and was among the first group of psychotherapists in Europe to receive the award of the European Certificate of Psychotherapy (of the European Association for Psychotherapy) in France, in February 1999.

He has held several prominent positions within psychotherapy organizations in Europe reflecting his commitment to the growth and development of the profession. In December 2009 the Board of Trustees and James Antrican (Outgoing Chair) of the  United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) awarded Ken a certificate for his Outstanding Contribution to UKCP and Services to Psychotherapy'. 

Ken was President of the European Association for Psychotherapy in 1994 and Founding President of the European Association for Integrative Psychotherapy (1996 -1999). He was Training Standards Officer for the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (1998 - 2000),  President of the European Association for Gestalt Therapy (2002 - 2008). Currently he is Registrar of the European Association for Integrative Psychotherapy and Chair of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapeutic Counselling. Ken studied Economics and Politics for his first degree and then went on to post graduate study in Social Administration and Psychology. He subsequently trained as a Social Worker and worked as a Team Leader/Prinicpal Social Worker in Child Protection. After further study, this time in theology and pastoral ministry, he worked as a Mental Health Chaplain (anglican) before finally specialising in psychotherapy in 1985. Ken's approach to the practice of psychotherapy is influenced by the writings of Martin Buber and by a number of eastern spiritual traditions. He also has a particular interest in eco - spirituality.

Joanna Hewitt Evans is the Co-Director of Euroips, a  UKCP registered psychotherapist and holds a Masters Degree in Gestalt Psychotherapy. She was Course Leader of the Gestalt Psychotherapy Programme in Scarborough, UK, until the Autmun of 2009 when she resigned to direct her focus to Euroips.  She is a Visiting Trainer to The Institute for Integrative Psychotherapy in Zagreb, the Institute for  Integrative Psychotherapy in Lublijana and the Gestalt Foundation in Greece. Joanna was a former Senior Social Worker and a Project Manager at the Family Service Unit in Leicester, She has a Masters Degree in Social Work and has taught on a social work course. She has a particular interest in research development in psychotherapy and recently published two research articles in peer reviewed journals.

Together Joanna and Ken run   residential Master Classes, for example for a  French group of therapists, and  residential Personal Development Groups,  for example for Romanian therapy trainees, at La Volee. Contact Ken Evans 07855 323 305.

Euroips has access to an extensive network of counsellors and psychotherapists across Europe who are trained to the standards of the European Association for Psychotherapy.
